If the library is closed for a holiday that falls on a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, the library will close at 5 pm the night before.

A message from the Oglesby Public Library Board of Trustees

Due to increasing operational costs, we are temporarily adjusting our operational hours. Effective May 1, 2025, the library will be closed on Fridays, which has been our least busy day in terms of foot traffic.

As a board, our priority is to provide a high-quality library for the voting district. Given our community’s population, maintaining a five-day-a- week schedule is still a remarkable commodity.

This change is temporary while we evaluate long-term solutions for reopening six days a week. If it proves unfeasible, the Board of Trustees may make this change permanent. However, the library’s trustees, director, and staff will still have the flexibility to host activities and programs on Fridays as needed.

We sincerely appreciate our patrons’ continued support and remain committed to ensuring the library serves our community for generations to come.
